Double at Chelmsford for Team Hammersley. Zayin Zachilles achieves his 9th career win while Majid bi

A successful day, with 9 runners and very hot weather. Zayin Zachilles owned and bred by Zayin Arabian Stud set the mark for the day achieving his 9th career success ridden by Will Pettis. The very promising Bin Al Reeh owned and bred by HH Sheikha Maryam bint Mohammed Al Maktoum and ridden by Ellie McKenzie finished very strongly and was only half a length down at the line. Unity Belle owned and bred by Heather Phillpott and ridden by David Turner led until tiring inside the last quarter.

Our second win of the day came from Majid bin Krayaan owned and bred by HH Sheikha Maryam Bint Mohammed Al Maktoum and ridden by David Turner. This race was ideal for Majid being both a test of stamina and also out of stalls. He took control 5 furlongs out and was able to secure his second career win without too much trouble. Ultimate Force owned and bred by Heather Phillpott and well ridden by her daughter Laura Pearson, stayed on very gamely for second place giving us another 1,2.

Homebred Stonehenge ridden by David Turner made his debut in the 3yo & 4yo maiden over 7f. The race was won by The Royal Cavalry of Oman owned and bred 3yo Amer colt Tahirwah. He looks potentially very smart. Stonehenge broke well but was a little outpaced in the middle part of the race. He stayed on down the straight and ran through the line well. We have always thought of him being a 6f-7f horse on his dam's pedigree, but on this running it would appear that his sire Madjani may have a bigger influence on him and much like a lot of Madjanis' he may just need a trip to be seen at his best. He took the whole day well and we were all pleased overall.

Asraa Min Al-Talqa owned and bred by Forta Stud and ridden by David Turner, was top weight in the 1 mile 0-90 handicap. He broke well but was struggling to go the pace and eventually finished behind. A step up in trip will see this very nice colt in a much better light.

Zayin Activist owned and bred by Zayin Arabian Stud and ridden by David Turner and Shakatak Alenaya owned by Mrs Diane Creed and ridden by Mike Palmer ran in the finale, the 1 mile 0-40 'Hands and Heels' handicap. Both horses had finished well behind in their first two runs so it was very pleasing to see them run much better finishing 4th and 5th respectively.

This meeting had stalls starts in all the races. Four of our nine runners were racing from stalls for the first time in their careers. We were therefore very pleased that the extensive stalls practice at home ensured all our runners loaded well and caused no trouble to the stalls handlers on raceday. A big thank you to David Turner, Mike Palmer and Sue Wileman.

As mentioned it was a very hot day, and all horses were thoroughly cared for after their races, being washed down a number of times to get their body temperatures down. None of them suffered from the heat. On behalf of Team Hammerlsey a big thank you to all staff, vets and most importantly owners who helped care for all the horses after their races.
