Zayin Angkor Centurion gives us our first winner of the season

Our first winner of the season came in the fourth race at the first meeting of the season at Chelmsford on Saturday 21 April. With stable jockey David Turner in the saddle, Zayin Angkor Centurion owned and bred by Zayin Arabian Stud forged ahead inside the final furlong, staying on well to win by 1.25 lengths in the 0-85 Handicap Stakes over 1 mile. This was a very pleasing performance and bodes well for the rest of the season.

Ultimate Force owned and bred by Heather Phillpott and again ridden by David Turner, gave us a second place in race 5. 0-60 Handicap over one mile two furlongs. Having disputed the lead from the start, he stayed on well but was just beaten a length in the final strides of the race. Congratulations to the winner Johara Bint Shuwaiman owned by HH Sheikha Maryam bint Mohammed Al Maktoum, trained by Nikki Malcolm and ridden by Ellie Mackenzie.

Majid Bin Krayaan owned and bred by HH Sheikha Maryam Bint Mohammed Al Maktoum was our final runner of the day finishing third in the the 0-65 Handicap over 7 furlongs which is a bit on the sharp side for him. He will go to Taunton next. Congratulations to the connections of the winner Delishess who was a much loved mare when she was with us when owned by Forta Stud.

A good start for Team Hammersley on what has been a very wet spring, we are proud of our results, having a winner and two places from our first three runners.

Looking forward to Taunton on 13 May.
