Newbury 29 June 2017. DIAR International Stakes.

We ran the Athbah Stud owned 4yo colt Suleyman in this prep race for the Group 1 Dubai International Stakes on Dubai Day. The field of 10 contained 2 Group 1 placed horses and a Group 2 placed colt, along with several other highly rated horses.

In his first four races in France for his previous trainer and his one run in the UK for us, Suleyman had raced far too keenly and had failed to see out his races. From his wide draw we decided to try and drop him in behind and get him settled. Sam Hitchcott rode the perfect race. Out the back for the first half of the race, he began to close after turning in, and improved into 4th 2f out. He stayed on and galloped all the way to the line, eventually finishing 5th. This was a big step up on previous efforts and we were all very pleased with his run. He will go to Dubai Day on 30 July 2017 for the 1 mile handicap.
